Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Accessories Now Available

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is gearing up for a release, and of course you’re wondering: what accessories should I get? Since the device isn’t exactly free, you want the best to protect the best, of course. You’re in luck. Below you can find the best accessories for your device from Samsung themselves, so you know the quality won’t fail you.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0/10.1 desktop dock

Something we all can agree on is how nice it is to stand your tablet up when working with it, it’s just more comfortable. The official stand/dock for Samsung Galaxy Note 8.o comes in a nice, black finish. However, what’s nice about it that works perfectly with the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, too. The dock both charges and stands your device,  along with allowing  faster synchronization to your computer. You really can’t go wrong with that. The best part of it all must be the price though, it comes with the price tag of only £24.95, which is about  $38.

As I wrote before, you want to protect your tablet. There are some ways you can do this, either by getting a so-called “book cover” which you flip over the tablet’s screen when you’re not using it (highly recommended). However, if you’re feeling bold, you can just use the regular  screen protector. Although, I really recommend you get both.

The screen protector is specifically cut out for the Galaxy Note 8, so you can’t use it with other devices. It features a matte finish, which prevents light being reflected off the device. Furthermore it never hinders your usage with the tablet. And no, the screen protector won’t make it any harder for you to see. Since this is an official Samsung product, you’ll know it’s good quality.

Ok, but what about the “book covers”? Well, they come in a multitude of colours. There are the basic colours, such as dark grey and white. Then there’s also garnet red, lime green, and berry pink available from Samsung. As you can see in the image above, it also doubles as a stand when you have it opened. All of the ports are available due to the cut out in the cover, not surprising since it was Samsung that produced it.

Now, Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is perfect as a SatNav, but you need to keep it secure in the car; both for your own safety and the device’s. First and foremost, the official vehicle dock  will actually charge your device while it’s plugged in, isn’t that awesome? The dock itself doesn’t stop you from using the various functions available on the device. Among the functions available are the 3.5mm audio jack which you can use a 3.5mm audio cable to play music via the radio. As for attaching the dock, you can do this both on the windscreen and dashboard. It doesn’t hurt it can hold the tablet both horizontally and vertically, making it really easy to use in a cramped car.

Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two’s PS Vita Version is Port of PS3 Version

Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two

Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two‘s PS Vita version will be a port of the PS3 version.

SCEE’s Alex Moyet has, however, stated that it will be, “be optimised for the Vita hardware”. A new feature will be added, though, in form of a two-player WiFi mode. Additionally Moyet stated that they will, “definitely fix some of those technical issues previously experienced such as framerate and AI”.

The game studio behind the game is Blitz Games Studios, which was also responsible for the Xbox 360 and PS3 version. The studio will be collaborating with Sony on the project, as well.  Furthermore, Gaming Everything reports that the game will not offer any cross-compatibility support. This means no no cross-buy, cross-play, or cross-save.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Details Revealed

Samsung Galaxy S4

Samsung Galaxy S4 details have been reveled during the event announcement held a few hours ago.

The smartphone in question is clearly based off of the design from Samsung Galaxy S3, not surprising considering it sold over 100 million devices in 2012. The S4′s screen is now 5 inches (still Super AMOLED). It’s not a too big difference from the S3.

The fourth iteration is also more streamlined and with a better quality feel. If you held back from buying the S3 due to it’s plastic feel, this phone might actually be for you. Mashable reports that the S4 is lighter, but also of higher quality.

Going back to the screen of the S4 we see that they’ve upgraded the resolution from 1280X720 to 1920X1080. With the Super AMOLED screen, this means the display features  a 441ppi resolution.

Samsung Galaxy S4

It all depends on the market, but the phone either comes with 1.9Ghz quad-core processor or a 1.6 octa-core processor. Furthermore the phone runs on  Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. S4 comes with 2GB worth of RAM, along with 16, 32 or 64 GB configurations depending on what phone you pick. There’s also a possibility to utilize a MicroSD card.

S4 also comes with all of the wireless connections you might want to use, such as Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC, Wi-Fi and GPS. It also comes with an IR port.  Powering the beast we have a  2600 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy S4′s camera is impressive!

The most exciting part of the S4 is the camera. In addition to the rear-facing camera, which is at 13-megapixel, the front-facing camera is coming in at 2-megapixel. According to Samsung, these two cameras can be used together in a mode called “Dual Camera”. The mode allows both cameras to be used as you record and take photos simultaneously.

Users can also choose how you want the cameras to  ’interact’ with each other. For instance, you can choose to have second camera overlay the main camera or use it in a true side-by-side mode. This mode is also cool since it allows users to make video calls, showing off what they’re seeing without having to switch camera positions. The S4′s camera now also features different shooting modes depending on the different shots you might take.  There’s still more, the camera allows you to shoot via something called Drama Shot. Basically you will be able to create your own animated GIFs.

You can also create Story Albums based on your GEO-tagged information. It’s like a virtual reminder of a road trip or an event. You can also order physical prints from the devices as well.

Wait, Gestures?

The S4 comes with a whole wide range of apps and various software features.  One feature, called  Air View, will allow users to hover their finger over the app to see a preview of the content before you switch screens.

Air Gestures is another cool thing that allows you to use an almost Kinect-like option to make calls and navigate the phone. You’re not actually touching the phone.  Smart Pause and Smart Scroll are two other features implemented by Samsung. The Smart Pause allows you to pause the videos in an app when you turn away, and resume when you return. This function is enabled by facial recognition.  Smart Scroll allows you to scroll through browsers and email without touching the phone. It once again uses face movements and wrist gestures to determine when to scroll.

Availability:

The phone will start going on sale in April and onward. In North America you can get the phone on Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, U.S. Cellular and Cricket. The price has yet to be determined.

There has been no word whether or not the price drop will affect the rest of the world, but it’s quite possible.

iPad 4

According to various sources, a new iPad 4 model might be in the works.

The iPad 4 would apparently come with a Retina display, along with 128 GB in memory. This new model wouldn’t be a completely new design, it would simply be an addition to the already existing line of iPads from the fourth generation.

The price point is unknown. Another source gave some information to 9to5Mac which seems to be a new SKU listing. A new iPad can be found in this listing, bearing the name “Ultimate.”

PS Vita Price Cut Happening Next Year

According to Sony UK, a PS Vita price cut won’t be happening until next year.

In addition to this, Sony will also introduce new bundles to make the current price point more valuable.

“We always aim to establish price cuts,” Sony Computer Entertainment UK VP Fergal Gara said. “So the question is not so much if, but when. We won’t have an across the board price down this Christmas. But what you will see us doing is work very hard with our retail partners to add value to the product to make it more compelling.”

“Even this week there are some tremendously attractive bundles out there, for example wi-fi Vita plus LittleBigPlanet at the £200 price point. There’s the wi-fi product again plus FIFA 13 plus Uncharted Golden Abyss plus LittleBigPlanet at not much above the £200 price point. We will be working that very hard over the coming weeks as more and more software arrives.”

Call of Duty: Black Ops II Will Not Run on Windows XP

Perhaps not too surprising, Call of Duty: Black Ops II will not run on Windows XP.

Activision has confirmed that the game requires an operating system such as Windows Vista, or newer. Game Spot reports that the official reason for the non-support is due to the fact Black Ops II will run on an engine which uses DirectX 11. However, Windows XP doesn’t support DirectX 11, and that’s where the problem lies. In addition to this, the game’s specifications were also revealed. Activision assured that the minimum specifications will make it so that everyone can run the game, apparently will good performance too.

As mentioned before, the game runs on a completely new engine. Apparently this will “ boasts a range of improvements, including performance optimization, enhanced graphics, and proprietary anti-cheat technology.” Lastly, there will be no framerate cap for the game on PC. Either you can choose how many frames-per-second you want, or you can turn it off completely.
