What it Means to Be a Casual Gamer

More often than not, the term “gamer” is packed with a presumption that the person who is playing the games have to be some type of hardcore gamer. This may have been the case in the past,  but it’s becoming an outdated description of the term. Nowadays people don’t really seem to have the time to sit down and get immersed into a MMO, nor do they have the time to wait for their computer to boot up in order for them to play games which might take forever to load. Instead they choose to play games which are already close at hand, such as games through Facebook or partybingo.com.

This has led to a new term being developed – Casual Gaming.

What defines casual gaming is that the players never seem to immerse themselves into more story driven games, instead they choose games which doesn’t require much technical skills from them. Ever think of the games you play on Facebook? Congratulations, you’re now a casual gamer. Some of the games we encounter are puzzle games, shoot the bubbles games, and more. There is no restriction as to what genre the games will be, nor is there any rules regarding how it’s designed.

Some game companies use the old tried method, “try before you buy”, or they might even tempt you with items which will speed up, or slow down the time in your game. It’s been proven that extra items bought in-game can be potentially dangerous for your economy, especially if you have kids with unlimited access to your bank account (seriously dumb idea, don’t do it). It’s not all bad though, if you can resist the temptation of purchasing upgrades, the games will be a savior during the time you transport yourself from, or to work. Most of the games can be found through various app stores on your mobile device, making it very hard to resist downloading them.
