Take-Two has denied ever threatening to sue Frank Darabont over his L.A. Noir show.
Darabont’s show apparently had to change its name from L.A. Noir to Los Angels, otherwise Take-Two would sue. Take-Two is denying ever threatening him. They did, however, say they reached out to TNT. It wasn’t in order to threaten them, though, but to express concern since the name of the show is very similar to the game, L.A. Noire.
“It’s unfortunate that Mr. Darabont finds it necessary to gain publicity by making inaccurate statements,” a Take-Two representative said. “Take-Two never contacted Mr. Darabont nor threatened to sue any party.”
“The facts are that Take-Two reached out to [TNT parent company Turner Broadcasting System] to express concern over confusion between the properties and they responded that they had decided to change the title of the show independent of Take-Two’s concerns.”
