Apple Drops Patent Claim Towards Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini

Apple has dropped its patent claim towards Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini.

Apple agreed to remove the patent claim as long as Samsung will not market the smartphone in the United States. Apple stated that they had requested that other Samsung products should be added to the patent claim, but Samsung countered, saying that S3 Mini had not been sold in the U.S.

However, the iPhone maker stated that Samsung’s smartphone did appear on Amazon’s U.S. storefront and has been purchased and delivered to multiple North American citizens.

“Apple will agree to withdraw without prejudice its request to include the Galaxy S III Mini in this case given Samsung’s representation that it is not making, using, selling, offering to sell, or importing that product into the United States,” Apple said in its filing.

It has been argued that Samsung infringed on patents which could be found in the previous patent claim by Apple. This patent claim inevitable lead to Apple demanding a sales ban on all Samsung products in the U.S, however, it was denied by judge Lucy Koh.
