The PS Vita is one year old!
The handheld was released in Japan on December 17th, 2011. Even though the PS Vita was severely lacking in the amount of games released, it seems to have picked up the pace with several new announcements coming in every month, or so it seems.
CVG reports that it was recently announced that the PS Vita might act as a competition against Wii U‘s dual screen tech. Apparently PS Vita will work as a game controller whilst the PS3 will be used normally.
“We’re only now starting to understand the potential of both devices working together,” said Tom O’Connor, a senior producer at Sony XDev Studio Europe, adding that technically it would be possible to play Wii U games like ZombiU using PS3 and Vita.
“Cross-controller gives publishers an extra option. There will be some games that are being developed for other dual-screen platforms, though I can’t name any names, and we can allow that to be possible on PS3. That gives publishers more multiplatform opportunities.
“We definitely need more than one game to flaunt the Cross-Controller functionality,” O’Connor added. “I know that internal teams are looking into it, and I’m pretty sure there have been some discussions with third-party publishers too.”
Do you think the Cross-Controller functionality is interesting?
