New Sailor Moon Anime Announced for 2013

Kodansha and Sailor Moon‘s creator Naoko Takeuchi announced on Friday that there will be a new anime adaption of the hit series. The new series will air in the summer of 2013 and Momoiro Clover Z will be performing a theme song.

The announcement was made during the live event celebrating the 20th anniversary of the manga. Kotono Mitsuishi (Usagi/Sailor Moon) and Tohru Furuya (Mamoru/Tuxedo Mask) were at the event and did not say whether they would reprise their roles. Momoiro Clover Z sang “Moonlight Densetsu” at the event via a live video feed from France as they are guests at Japan Expo.

Kodansha USA will release volume 6 of the manga on July 10th.
